Elizabeth Banks has said that she is in "total shock" over the death of her Hunger Games: Catching Fire co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Banks – who plays Effie Trinkett in the Hunger Games movies – has now shared her grief over Hoffman's passing.
Hoffman's death has led to tributes from luminaries such as George Clooney, Hugh Jackman, Aaron Sorkin, Philip Baker Hall, Jim Carrey and Justin Timberlake, among others.

Hoffman was found dead of a possible drug overdose in his New York City apartment over the weekend, sending shockwaves through Hollywood.

Banks – who plays Effie Trinkett in the Hunger Games movies – has now shared her grief over Hoffman's passing.
"It's a shock, total shock," she told Extra . "We were playing against each other in Candy Crush just last week."
The actress continued: "[Philip was] an incredible actor. Everybody respected him. I really enjoyed my time with him."
