Bennet has now disclosed that even she is not entirely sure of what super powers that Skye could posses.
"I've been in the dark as much as everyone, so I was just shocked. When I got to the end of the script [about Skye's origins], it was crazy, like, 'Whaaaat?'" she recalled to TV Line .
The actress continued: "Hearing that I might be an alien or an Asgardian or have powers… It's limitless what I could be. That is so exciting.
"It's always great to read more about this person that you play every day, because Skye is such a big part of me."
Bennet was also quizzed on the love triangle between Skye, Agent Ward (Brett Dalton) and Agent May (Ming-Na Wen).
"[Ward is] a little busy with May right now," she teased.
"Skye and Ward are soul mates, so I have a feeling that there's going to be some more flirtation between them."
The show's lead actor Clark Gregg recently addressed the show's declining ratings, blaming the drop on "losers" who stopped watching.
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD airs on Tuesdays on ABC. Channel 4 airs the show in the UK.
