Philip Seymour Hoffman: Matt Damon tribute to Talented Mr. Ripley co-star

Matt Damon has paid tribute to his Talented Mr. Ripley co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman .

Hoffman was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Sunday (February 2) from an apparent heroin overdose at the age of 46.

Damon, who appeared alongside Hoffman in the 1999 thriller, told Good Morning America that the late star "was one of the best actors that ever lived without a doubt".

"And he was an even better person. He was a beautiful person. It's horrible," added Damon.


According to police reports in US media, Hoffman had up to 50 bags of heroin in his home at the time of his death.


He reportedly had on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 when he died.


The actor's passing has prompted tributes from all over the entertainment world, while Broadway will dim its lights on Wednesday (February 5) in honour of his career.
