Boyzone: 'We toured too early after Stephen Gately's death'

Boyzone have admitted that the group went on tour too soon after the death of their late bandmate Stephen Gately.

Gately passed away in 2009 from an undiagnosed heart condition, and the boyband performed together two years later, a move they now say that they regret.

Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning today (March 24), Mikey Graham said of their 2011 tour: "It was too early for us to go out. I don't think we were emotionally stable enough to go out on that tour.

"We hadn't really gone through the grieving process enough. We hadn't received counselling or the stuff that we should have done for such a great loss.

"And I think that tour kind of brought an awful lot of that out in each one of us. We missed him so much... it was too early."

Boyzone are currently on their 'BZ20' tour to celebrate the group's 20th anniversary.

Keith Duffy added: "The [timing] feels better now. The first time out was always going to be difficult.

"Getting the timing of that right was always going to be difficult, so we got that tough part out of the way and our more recent tour was fantastic - we still talk about Steo on tour."

Boyzone will travel to Dubai in May before performing in various UK venues in June and July this year.
