How Jonah Hill Could Have Ended Up On Tour With Linkin Park

The timing of Linkin Park and Thirty Seconds To Mars' co-headlining Carnivores tour couldn't have been better: After all, both bands made the announcement less than 48 hours after Jared Leto took home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor ... a move which seems like pure genius, if only it was actually planned that way.

"It would have been genius! But even before [Leto's film, ] even came out, we were finalizing who was going to be on this tour," LP's Chester Bennington told MTV News. "But I'd like to thank Jared for going and winning an Oscar right before we announced the tour, it was very nice of him to do that."

"It was in the works for a long time, but, if Jonah Hill had won, it would have been Linkin Park and Jonah Hill," LP's Mike Shinoda laughed. "So we're lucky Jared won."

As it turns out, the LP/30STM team up — not to mention AFI, who round out the Carnivores triple bill — has not only been in the planning stages for a while, but is a natural fit ... one that fans of each band have been dreaming of for years.

"We've played a lot of festivals with Thirty Seconds To Mars and AFI, and we're excited to get on the road with those guys," Shinoda said. "They're great performers, they're beloved by their fans, and by a lot of our fans too, by the way. So it's going to be a fun tour."

"This is going to be an orgy of art and music, it's going to be a celebration, a mad, magical journey," Leto added. "I can't think of a better way to celebrate than to go on the road with these bands."

And just in case the opportunity to check out 30STM and AFI isn't enough for Linkin Park fans, Shinoda let it be known that those who come out to Carnivores will also get the chance to hear songs off the band's much-anticipated new album, which may very well be in stores by the time the tour kicks off in August.

"We've got an album coming out in the summer ... and we're going to be playing new music on the tour," he said. "It's a great time to be a Linkin Park fan, and it's a great time to be in the band and be able to share the stuff we've been working on with our fans, finally."
