Lil Wayne's Tha Carter V Release Date Pushed Back

It sounded too good to be true when Drake announced that Lil Wayne's Tha Carter V was set to drop May 5 — and it turns out, it was.

When asked about the rumored May 5 release date by NeverNotDope.com, Weezy's manager, Cortez Bryant, shot back quickly: "No," he assured. Then added, with a smile, "You'll see."

No matter what's causing the delay or when it will end, Bryant stressed that it'll be worth the wait. "Gonna be f---in' amazing," he said of the fifth and final installment in the Carter series. "It's gonna be that good."

It might not just be the last Carter, though. When Tunechi spoke with MTV News last month, he stressed that this would be his last solo effort — with one caveat: "Twenty-five to 35 million [dollars] would get me to do another solo album after this," he said. "I personally plan on this being my final solo album, yes. And it's definitely the final Carter album." It doesn't sound like that means he has plans on leaving rapping behind altogether, thankfully. He said he'd grab the mic, "whenever I have to pitch in for a Young Money album, a Like Father, Like Son album and something like that and maybe something out the blue."

No new release date for Tha Carter V has been announced yet.

Young Money's latest compilation album, Young Money: Rise of an Empire, which features multiple appearances from Lil Wayne, was released March 18.
