The Simpsons bids final farewell to Marcia Wallace's Edna Krabappel

The Simpsons has said its final farewell to Marcia Wallace 's Edna Krabappel.

Last night (March 9) Fox's latest episode in the US titled 'The Man Who Grew Too Much' paid tribute to the Springfield Elementary School teacher, who departed screens following Wallace's death last October.

The main focus of the episode was the return of Sideshow Bob (Kelsey Grammer), but the show closed with a touching epilogue featuring Krabappel and Ned Flanders.

The pair are seen dancing, with the inclusion of the character's signature laugh, before Flanders wakes from what turns out to be a dream.

"I sure do miss that laugh," Flanders says, before Nelson emerges with his own distinctive laugh, admitting "I miss her too."

The Simpsons has previously remembered Krabappel and Wallace with a tribute in the opening titles and Christmas couch gag.

Season 24 of The Simpsons currently airs on Sky1 in the UK.
