Pregnancy looks good on country crooner Carrie Underwood .
The expecting singer has been stepping out in cute maternity duds, including chic fit-and-flare dresses, flouncy skirts and floral jumpsuits. But the key to her glow has to do with taking measures to keep fit and healthy during her pregnancy.
The singer, whose first child with hockey player Mike Fisher is due next spring, has been working with longtime trainer Erin Oprea to maintain a healthy body— inside and out—as her belly continues to grow.
E! News caught up with Oprea, owner of Oprea Personal Fitness, to get the scoop on Underwood's pregnancy workout routines so far. Her first piece of advice? Get cleared to workout from your doctor! Once given the go-ahead by a medical professional, it's important to maintain realistic goals and a healthy attitude toward eating and following a fitness routine during pregnancy. And what's better? Many of these workouts are easy to do at home.
"It's not just about looking your best, it's about making yourself feel better," Oprea said. "[Carrie] just wanted to be healthy, and she looks fantastic. She's eating good, and continuing to work out."

Underwood, who is "pretty much vegan," is following a balanced diet that includes legumes, veggies and lots of water for hydration. Oprea advises to stay away from processed foods, which will help with energy regulation during pregnancy.
"She does eat a lot of beans and yummy vegetables," Oprea said. "A great source of protein is beans, because you're not only going to get protein but also you'll get fiber out of that."
In terms of the workout, Carrie keeps it light and refreshing with core-strengthening exercises and bits of cardio in between.
"We do a lot of planks, jump roping, and we still do lots of weights," Oprea said. "We're just doing lighter weights, to keep her definition and tone. [We also do] tons of fun variations of lunges and squats."
Oprea suggests including small bursts of cardio in these workouts to keep the heart rate up. Stretching is also essential: "We do stretching at the end of every session," Oprea added.
Staying healthy during pregnancy can be as simple as a walk around the block: Easy fitness routines, like a five-minute daily walk in the neighborhood, will help maintain a healthy balance as well.
"When you're pregnant you're super tired, so even if you get out and walk, it makes you have some more energy," Oprea said.
