Taylor Swift’s ‘GMA’ Performance Proves She’s Pretty Much The Queen Of New York

Not only is Taylor Swift the new Global Welcome Ambassador for New York City tourists, but now, she’s donating all the proceeds from her 1989 track, “Welcome to New York,” to NYC public schools. And on Thursday (October 30), Tay whipped out that song on “Good Morning America”‘s Time Square stage, along with what by now is a classic among Swifties: “Shake It Off.” She even said that she’s planning shows for her upcoming, unannounced tour!

Fans were packed in from street corner to street corner — many of whom slept on the pavement overnight for a chance to see 1989 come to life. Taylor thanked them for their dedication when she got onstage, facing the biggest crowd in “GMA” history. Between songs, she chatted with host Robin Roberts about how her fans already know all the lyrics to her new album, even though it only dropped on Monday. “They’re so fast,” she said, shocked. Swifties screamed back, wearing T.S. shirts, holding signs and making hearts with their hands.
