Idlewild's Roddy Woomble and Rod Jones joined Steve Lamacq - a long-time champion of the band - on his BBC 6Music show for the announcement on Monday (November 3).

Fans who pre-order Everything Ever Written will be given exclusive access to a pre-sale link for the band's forthcoming tourdates, as well as an instant download of lead track 'Collect Yourself'.

Idlewild recently toured the Scottish highlands and islands, their first live shows since going on hiatus in 2010, and have confirmed the following UK shows in March 2015:

Sat 7 - Glasgow, O2 ABC

Sun 8 - Glasgow, O2 ABC

Tue 10 - Birmingham, Institute

Thu 12 - Manchester, The Ritz

Fri 13 - London, The Roundhouse

The band will also play an intimate acoustic show this Wednesday (November 5) at the King's Head in Dalston, London.

Everything Ever Written was mixed by John Agnello, who has worked with acts including Sonic Youth, Thurston Moore and Dinosaur Jr.

Andrew Mitchell (bass) and Lucci Rossi (keyboards) have joined founding members Woomble, Jones and Colin Newton as part of the permanent line-up.

The new release and tour will also mark the band's 20th anniversary.
