The film's story is based on the popular football clubs of Mohun Bagan and East Bengal.
Abraham told IANS : "We are very excited about it going on floors.
"We are doing a lot of research on the film. It's a true story. For people who want to understand what kind of a film it is, it is like Lagaan meeting Chak De! (India). I would hope and say that it's even better," the 41-year old actor explained.
"I think it's important to share with people that it's not just on Mohun Bagan, it's a film on football. It's a film that I am producing and Shoojit Sircar is directing. It is starting this October," he added.
A football fan himself, the actor-turned-producer said he is confident of his film's success. "I think the best film based on sports will be 1911."
The star has said that he felt he had to prove himself to critics because of his background as a model. He also expressed his ambition to direct a film starring Shah Rukh Khan.
