Bollywood pays tribute to author Khushwant Singh

Bollywood celebrities have been paying their respects to celebrated Indian writer Khushwant Singh who died on Thursday.

Singh, who was famed for his books Train to Pakistan, I Shall Not Hear the Nightingale and Delhi, died at his home in Delhi after suffering from respiratory trouble, aged 99.

Shah Rukh Khan wrote on Twitter saying: ''Oh no Khushwant Singh is no more. He made our lives so much richer by his literary contributions. ''With Malice towards one and all'' RIP''

Director Shekhar Kapur wrote: ''An Institution says adieu. His final joke upon us. RIP Khushwant Singh.''


Pooja Bhatt said: ''RIP Khuswant Singh. What a life! Indeed what a life! Thank you for your words,your girth and your mirth.''


Columnist and author Shobhaa De tweeted: ''Khushwant Singh. End of an era. Only KS could say 'There's no condom for a pen." And prove it!''

Actress Neha Dhupia said: ''RIP #KhushwantSingh ji .... Between the bookshelves and the books u ll always b remembered in a corner of our homes n hearts!''

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh paid tribute to the journalist and author saying: "A gifted author, candid commentator and a dear friend. He lived a truly creative life."


Singh is survived by his daughter Mala and son Rahul.


His body was cremated at Lodhi Crematorium.
