Jay Leno has revealed that he is a "fan" of Jimmy Fallon's new version of The Tonight Show.

Leno spoke fondly about Fallon after being inducted into the Television Hall of Fame this week.

"You know I can't do duets with Jay Z. At one point, you become the old guy, and I became the old guy, but we were able to keep the show number one for that whole period. You have to know when to get out."

Fallon took over the long-running NBC late-night show on February 17, following on from Leno's 22-year on-and-off tenure on The Tonight Show.

Leno spoke fondly about Fallon after being inducted into the Television Hall of Fame this week.
"I think he's doing great. I'm a huge fan of Jimmy," he told Extra . "We talk once or twice a week."
The chatshow host went on to say: "He brings a new energy and a different vibe to the show.

Leno was also coy about a potential return to television in the near future.
"I do my Jay Leno's Garage show all the time on YouTube," he said. "I just like being a comedian again, so I'll do that for a while and we'll see what happens."
Leno began hosting The Tonight Show in 1992.
