Reece Shearsmith's The Widower tops Monday ratings with 5 million

New ITV drama The Widower topped Monday's ratings outside of soaps, according to overnight figures.

Reece Shearsmith and Sheridan Smith's drama launched with 5.03 million viewers (21.9%) at 9pm (447,000/2.9% on +1). Earlier, I Never Knew That About Britain brought in 3.31m (14.6%) at 8pm (100k/1.4%).

On BBC One, Silk continued with 3.90m (16.9%) at 9pm, followed by The Michael McIntyre Chat Show, which dipped around 400k to 2.04m (18.8%) at 10.35pm. Earlier, Bang Goes the Theory fascinated 3.02m (14.1%) at 7.30pm, and Panorama was seen by 2.27m (9.7%) at 8.30pm.

BBC Two's University Challenge quizzed 3.02m (13.2%) at 8pm, followed by Mary Berry Cooks with 2.61m (11.1%) at 8.30pm and new series The Plantagenets with 1.69m (7.4%) at 9pm.


On Channel 4, Shop Secrets intrigued 1.63m (6.9%) at 8pm (110k/0.5%). One Born Every Minute attracted 1.83m (8.0%) at 9pm (238k/1.6%), while 8 Out of 10 Cats entertained 917k (5.7%) at 10pm (130k/1.6%).

Channel 5's Police Interceptors appealed to 1.04m (4.5%) at 8pm. Can't Pay? We'll Take It Away! gathered 1.27m (5.6%) at 9pm (168k/1.1%), followed by The Big Can't Pay Debate with 814k (5.2%) at 10pm.

On BBC Three, new series Life and Death Row interested 970k (4.2%) at 9pm, followed by Prostitution: What's the Harm? with 715k (4.7%) at 10pm.


BBC Four's Only Connect Sport Relief special puzzled 735k (3.1%) at 8.30pm.


On E4, Revenge continued with 368k (1.6%) at 9pm (109k/0.7%), followed by My Mad Fat Diary with 378k (2.5%) at 10pm.


Sky1's Modern Family amused 401k (1.7%) at 8.30pm, while Moone Boy brought in 181k (0.8%) at 9pm.
