Davis Silis has directed the promo for the band's new track, which debuts their new hip-hop-influenced sound.
'Down' was recently named BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe's Hottest Track in the World.
The single will be released on April 20 digitally and on 7" vinyl via Virgin/EMI, and is described as a "mission statement" from the band on their return.
It was written and co-produced by frontman Luke Pritchard and hip-hop artist Inflo.
The Kooks' last album was 2011's Junk of the Heart, which was their third top-ten release after 2006 debut Inside In/Inside Out and 2008's follow-up Konk.
They will embark on a four-date mini-tour in May to support their latest album.
