The Voice first live show tops Saturday ratings with 6.21m on BBC One

The Voice UK topped the ratings for its first live show of the current series, according to overnight data.

An average of 6.21 million (27.6%) tuned in to the quarter-finals of the BBC One singing competition from 6.45pm.

After a short break for the National Lottery, the show returned to announce the results of the public vote at 8.50pm, with 5.89m (27.6%) watching as four contestants were eliminated.

Afterwards on BBC One, Casualty's latest episode brought in 5.61m (29%) at 9.25pm.


On BBC Two, Don't Panic! The Dad's Army Story attracted 1.43m at 6.40pm, followed by an episode of the wartime sitcom at 7.30pm which entertained 1.75m (7.6%).


The Perfect Morecambe & Wise continued with 1.39m (6.1%) at 8pm, while history documentary The Plantagenets interested 1.16m (5.48%) at 8.30pm.


Over on ITV, Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway continued to impress with 6.17m (26.9%) tuning in at 7pm, as well as an added 316k (1.4%) an hour later on ITV+1.


The Cube entertained 3.92m (18.4%) when it continued at 8.25pm, while The Americans brought in 874k (4.6%), dropping 286k from last week's season two premiere.

Channel 4's Marvel's Agents of SHIELD attracted 470k (2.1%) at 7.05pm, followed by US drama The Hostages which was watched by 550k (2.5%) at 8pm.

A showing of Rush Hour 3 pulled in 930k (4.8%) at 9pm.


Over on Channel 5, new series Longmire started with 741k (3.3%) at 6.50pm, followed by an NCIS double bill which attracted 623k (2.7%) and 728k (3.4%) at 7.40pm and 8.35pm respectively.


ITV3's Doc Martin topped the multichannel ratings, with 824k (3.7%) tuning in at 8pm. 790k (4.2%) caught up with Endeavour at 9pm.


BBC Four's new series Inspector De Luca pulled in 723k (3.8%) at 9pm.


Over on BBC Three, Top Gear entertained 566k (2.6%) at 8.20pm, while 572k (3.3%) watched Angelina Jolie's Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life at 9.25pm.
