The Americans, Mad Men, Trying Again: What to watch this weekend

From the best of US drama to classic British Saturday night TV fun, there is so much to watch this weekend you won't want to leave the house at all.

So let us, along with our friends at NOW TV, pick out five of the best shows to watch.

1. The Americans

The Americans: Keri Russell as Elizabeth Jennings and Matthew Rhys as Philip Jennings

Where: ITV

When: 10.15pm on Saturday

This Cold War-era spy drama is one of the must-see US shows right now. Tucked away in ITV's late night schedules, it's a visual and aural treat for anyone who grew up in the '80s - big hair! Fleetwood Mac! Phil Collins! - and it's also a seriously tense depiction of life for two Russians undercover in Reagan's America. Now in its second season, it's not too late to get on board to find out why we're hooked on this on Saturday nights.

2. Mad Men

Jon Hamm as Don Draper in Mad Men S07E01: 'Time Zones'

Where: Sky Atlantic on NOW TV

When: 10pm on Wednesdays and repeated at 9pm on Saturdays - seasons 1-6 box set available now on NOW TV

The '60s ad agency drama has swaggered back on to our screens for the start of its final season with its usual mix of delicious soapy drama and exquisite dashing style. Jam-packed with hidden literary and cultural references in every episode, Mad Men is a show that truly rewards its viewers with every sitting, and the final season is proving to be one of its finest, burning with tension as we approach the end for Don, Joan, Peggy and co. If you haven't caught up yet, all the past episodes are available on NOW TV.

3. Ben Fogle's Storm City

Where: Sky 1 on NOW TV

When: 8pm on Saturday - past episodes available now on NOW TV

The British are famously obsessed with the weather, but Ben Fogle's new series Storm City is a world away from Michael Fish chatting about showers over East Anglia. The TV presenter uses real-life case studies of some of the world's most dangerous and extreme weather, meets storm survivors and, with a team of experts, recreates the experiences - in one episode, Fogle puts a test house under an avalanche! From the world's fiercest ice storms to devastating high-speed winds, this documentary series is truly spectacular.

4. The Guess List

Rob Brydon hosts The Guess List

Where: BBC One

When: 9.30pm on Saturday

If you're sick of celebrities dancing and sob-story singers on talent shows, Rob Brydon's new Saturday night entertainment show The Guess List is the perfect antidote. It's basically a revamped version of Blankety Blank with added Brydon cheekiness. A refreshing return to shiny Saturday night TV fun which doesn't rely on Simon Cowell, it's a genuinely funny and modern take on an old-fashioned, fun-for-all-the-family format.

5. Trying Again

Where: Sky Living on NOW TV

When: 9pm on Thursdays - past episodes available now on NOW TV

Former EastEnders star Jo Joyner, comic Chris Addison and The Thick of It and Veep writer Simon Blackwell are brought together in new comedy drama Trying Again. It centres around Joyner and Addison as a couple giving love a second go after a recent affair from Joyner's character.

A razor-sharp romantic sitcom with two hugely popular lead actors and some brilliant supporting performances (Alun Cochrane, Elizabeth Berrington), Trying Again might just be your new favourite British comedy. Check it out!
