Summer of Sonic will skip 2014, Sega has confirmed.
"During this hiatus, we will take stock of the things we have accomplished with SEGA and then decide when we will be able to return for another round of Sonic excitement," organisers said in a statement on the event's website.

Organisers of the annual convention have decided to not hold the event this year.
"During this hiatus, we will take stock of the things we have accomplished with SEGA and then decide when we will be able to return for another round of Sonic excitement," organisers said in a statement on the event's website.
"The team would like to express our sincere thanks for the continued support of our fellow Sonic fans, as well as our apologies for any disappointment this news may cause."
Pioneered by fans of the Sonic The Hedgehog franchise, Summer of Sonic made its debut in 2008.
Previous years saw appearances of prominent Sonic designers, including series creator Yuji Naka and programmer Takashi Iizuka.
