Josh Kaufman was named champion in tonight's (May 20) final against Jake Worthington and Christina Grimmie.

The Indianapolis-based singer was originally let go by coach Adam Levine before Usher made the choice to steal earlier in the season.

"This is a show about dreams, about the journey of being an artist, and he represents all of that," Usher said, celebrating his first victory on the show. "From the time of the blind auditions to being stolen, he's been on an amazing journey."

Kaufman's fate seemed uncertain after Monday's final live performance show, as a glitch on iTunes showed the singer's recording of Adele's 'Set Fire to the Rain' listed as an album instead of a song.

As a result, the track was kept outside of the Top 10 most downloaded songs, while fellow competitors Grimmie and Worthington were within.

In tonight's show, host Carson Daly reminded viewers that track downloads do not contribute to each act's final tally.

Kaufman wins a recording contract and will take part in a 31-date tour this summer with his two finalists and fan favourite Kristen Merlin, as well as season 5 winner Tessanne Chin, runner-up Jacquie Lee, Will Champlin and season 1 favourite Dia Frampton.
