Varun Dhawan: 'I was madly in love with a girl'

Varun Dhawan has revealed that he has fought for love in real life.

The actor who portrays a young man who has to fight for his love in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, revealed that he has faced familial disapproval after falling in love.

According to Bollywood Life the actor said: "When I was in college, I was madly in love with a girl. But unfortunately her father didn't approve of the match. He didn't like me because I was on the verge of joining the film industry. So he emotionally blackmailed me.

"He told me that he had a heart problem and wanted to see his daughter getting married to someone else," he explained.

"I tried changing his mind but much as I tried I couldn't succeed. The girl did not fight hard enough too. If she had, I would have been a married man today."

Dhawan is regarded as one of the most eligible bachelors in Bollywood, after making his debut in Karan Johar's Student of the Year.

He went on to score a massive solo hit with Main Tera Hero .

The 26-year-old said he would not marry an actress, as his life is complicated enough.
