Happy Valley leaps to 6.2m for finale on BBC One

Happy Valley rose by nearly a million viewers for its finale on Tuesday, according to overnight figures.

The BBC One drama almost equalled its series high rating, rising to 6.2 million (28.0%) at 9pm. Later, A Question of Sport quizzed 2.1m (17.3%) at 10.35pm.

BBC Two's Springwatch interested 2.2m (10.7%) at 8pm, followed by Welcome to Rio with 1.3m (5.8%) at 9pm. A QI repeat amused 1.3m (7.4%) at 10pm.

On ITV, documentary Quads: Our First Year appealed to 2.9m (14.0%) at 8pm (243,000/1.1% on +1). The Secret Life of Babies brought in 2.6m (11.6%) at 9pm (341k/2.2%).


Channel 4's Location, Location, Location gathered 1.4m (6.6%) at 8pm (134k/0.6%), followed by The Complainers with 1.1m (4.9%) at 9pm (195k/1.2%). Embarrassing Bodies Live fascinated 680k (4.3%) at 10pm.


On Channel 5, The Dog Rescuers was seen by 1.0m (4.9%) at 8pm, followed by the latest CSI with 1.0m (4.7%) at 9pm. Inside Broadmoor intrigued 771k (4.9%) at 10pm.


Sky Atlantic's Penny Dreadful continued with 284k (1.3%) at 9pm.
