Releasing later in 2014, Xbox One and PS4 versions will contain "brand new functionality", as well as all of the content released as part of the game's 1.2 update.
The recently released update added 1,000 new items, new enemies, bosses and more.
The PS4 version, which will be shown behind closed doors at next week's E3 gaming expo, will also feature cross-play and cross-save functionality with PlayStation Vita.
Terraria takes place in a randomly-generated side-scrolling sandbox world, and encourages players to explore and gather resources while fighting monsters and building their own structures.
The game is currently available on Xbox 360, PS3, PC, iOS, Android, Windows Phone and PlayStation Vita.
