50 Shades of Grey's Dakota Johnson to star in Forever, Interrupted

Fifty Shades of Grey actress Dakota Johnson has been recruited to appear in a big screen adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's Forever, Interrupted: A Novel.

The 24-year-old will play the lead role in the romantic drama, which tells the story of a young woman who elopes after a whirlwind romance and must then face the sudden death of her husband.

In face of the tragedy, she must come to terms with the loss of her lover while also forming a relationship with his mother, who had no idea she existed.

Amy Baer is set to produce through Gidden Media, with Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake of Good Universe serving as executive producers alongside Johnson, John Middleton and Roy Lee.

"Taylor's book is exquisitely written and heart-wrenchingly honest," Baer said.

"Great romantic-drama is so hard to execute, and Taylor nailed it. And Dakota will be exquisite as Elsie, who has to deal with the sudden loss of a great love. She is a deeply thoughtful, sensitive and smart woman and actress."

Johnson recently finished up on Scott Cooper's Black Mass and will appear opposite Jamie Dornan in Fifty Shades of Grey next February.
