The Fall star was welcomed by a group of dhol players, as she took to the red carpet at the Cineworld Haymarket in central London.
Directed by Jeffery Brown, Sold, tells the story of Laxmi (Niyar Saikia), a young Nepali girl who is sent away by her family to work as a domestic servant in Kolkata, only to find she has been trafficked into a brothel.
Anderson plays the US photographer who learns of Laxmi's plight and helps local agencies spearhead a dangerous mission to rescue her.
Describing her experience of the film, Anderson said: "Working on this sensitively-told film and with young women who have themselves experienced the unbelievable trauma of abduction and trafficking has opened my eyes to the horrors these young people face on a daily basis, as well as the often life-threatening danger those working at the charities put themselves in, to free these innocent victims from modern day slavery."
Produced by Oscar winner Emma Thompson, the film also stars American actor David Arquette.
The film is based on Patricia McCormick's bestseller of the same name.
Also in attendance at the fifth London Indian Film Festival was British-born Bollywood actress Amy Jackson, EastEnders star Nitin Ganatra and director Santosh Sivan.
