Friends Week: 20 years of the hit sitcom that became a phenomenon
The dance - which, we'll have you know, won them "honourable mention in the brother/sister dance category" at middle school - was brought to life magnificently during the sibling's exciting visit to the recording of Dick Clark's New Year's Rocking Eve. But if you want to recreate it, you're in luck - below, thanks to Comedy Central, is a ten-step guide to wowing your party guests...
Step 1: The Finger Click
Remember to look surprisingly threatening.
Step 2: The Slap
You might want to discuss this with your dance partner beforehand (though, of course, it's not a real slap unless you want it to be).
Step 3: The Wiggle and Leg Rub
It's all in the hips.
Step 4: The Chicken Arms
This comes after an optional leapfrog.
Step 5: The Grasp and Slide
For extra impact, throw in a pre-wave.
Step 6: The Pot Stir
Wiggle wiggle wiggle.
Step 7: The Backwards Arm Shuffle
Make sure not to bump into your partner on the way.
Step 8: The Foot Tap
You only need one. Don't overdo it.
Step 9: The Hop, Skip and Jump
If you're going to fall over at any point, it's here. Proceed with caution.
Step 10: The Leap and Catch
Feel free to switch genders if your partner is a bit, well, overweight. But don't offer to be the catcher unless you're confident - otherwise all hell will break loose.
And that's it! To see how the pros do it, watch Monica and Ross busting some moves below:
