The singer revealed at his last audition that his younger brother died in 2013 and used that emotion to channel a brilliant performance and win four 'yeses' from the judges.
Speaking about having to use more emotion in his performances, Quickenden said: "It can be quite hard sometimes. I don't like people knowing I'm vulnerable. I don't like people knowing what I've gone through, because I don't want pity. I want people to like me for me."
The act, who missed out at Judges' Houses in 2012, added: "I'm not here to mess around. I don't like losing. There's no going back. I need to up my game."
Quickenden definitely has one fan in Simon Cowell, who admits that the singer made him reevaluate allowing acts to return to the show for a second chance.
"I'm not normally a massive fan of people who come back," said Cowell. "Because normally there is a reason you get kicked out. However, this particular year I wasn't on the show. You shouldn't have been kicked off.
"I'm really, really happy you came back"
