Ford is introducing its own form of collision-avoidance technology with the launch of its 2015 Mondeo.
The technologies use radar and camera sensors to scan the road ahead, sending the driver a warning alert if another vehicle or pedestrian lies ahead, and automatically applying the brakes if the user fails to do so.

The automaker claims that its Pre-Collision Assist and Pedestrian Detection systems will significantly reduce crashes and potentially save lives.

The technologies use radar and camera sensors to scan the road ahead, sending the driver a warning alert if another vehicle or pedestrian lies ahead, and automatically applying the brakes if the user fails to do so.
Pre-Collision Assist tech will help avert crashes at any speed, while Pedestrian Detection works at slower speeds and requires clear weather conditions to work.
"This technology adds to the already impressive list of driver-assist technologies Ford customers benefit from today," said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president of global product development.
Ford will introduce the technologies with the 2015 Mondeo in Europe, before rolling it out to other Ford and Lincoln vehicles worldwide.
