It seems like the Christmas season arrives earlier every year. Halloween isn’t even here yet and a Los Angeles man almost got a surprise visitor through his fireplace.
According to authorities in Thousand Oaks, California, Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa tried to climb down a residence’s chimney around 3:00 Sunday morning, but got wedged eight feet inside. A neighbor called 911 at 5:45 a.m., and firefighters finally managed to jackhammer apart enough bricks to lift her out at 8:13 a.m., tweeting photos as it happened:

“Chimney flue was lubricated with dish soap prior to hoisting patient,” the fire department’s spokesman explained. “[P]atient was lifted out of chimney and hoisted from roof using ladder truck and stokes basket.”

Nunez-Figueroa was evaluated at a nearby hospital, and police arrested her for illegal entry. The homeowner, who only identified himself as “Lawrence” to local reporters, said that he’d met her online and they’d gone on a half-dozen dates. “She seemed totally cool until the first [red] flag was her being on my roof two weeks ago” in a similar incident, he told KTLA. “I hope she stays offline…even if she’s online, people are going to know who she is now, so you’re welcome.”
Lawrence says he called the relationship off after that alleged break-in. “You have to be careful who you meet online,” he told CBS2. “It wasn’t Santa Claus, for sure.”
Her family will reportedly cover the cost of replacing his chimney. Watch the video below for more info:
