The chief executive of Nickelodeon's parent company Viacom, Philippe Dauman, confirmed plans for the service during a call with investors earlier today (January 29), according to Variety .
It is thought that the children's entertainment channel will reveal more details about the service at a meeting with advertisers next month.
The service will reportedly be aimed specifically at those who use mobile devices and will also have a different name and brand that will be "very attractive to parents and children".
The move follows similar launches by HBO and CBS, who have taken their programming online to compete with on-demand services like Amazon Instant Video and Netflix.
Nickelodeon refused to comment on today's reports.
