Dolce and Gabbana clarify controversial IVF comments after boycott

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have clarified the controversial comments they previously made about IVF and same-sex parents.

The fashion designers told CNN that they "respect" people's right to choose what is right for them following Sir Elton John's call for people to stop wearing Dolce & Gabbana.

The pair recently told an Italian publication that they are against "chemical offsprings and rented uterus", and that "children of chemistry" are "synthetic children".

Dolce has now said: "I believe in the traditional family. It is impossible to change my culture for something different. It's me... I respect all the world, all the culture."

Asked whether he supports children being born by IVF, Gabbana replied: "Yeah, I don't have anything bad, because the beauty of the world is freedom."

He added: "We love gay couple. We are gay. We love gay couple. We love gay adoption. We love everything. It's just an express of my private point of view."

Gabbana labelled John "ignorant" for his response to their comments, but he has now backtracked on his call for people to boycott his music.

"I love the music of Elton John," he said.

A number of stars including Ricky Martin, Ryan Murphy and John Barrowman have spoken out in support of John's #BoycottDolceGabbana campaign.

The 'Rocket Man' singer was criticised when he was spotted carrying a Dolce & Gabbana bag after his call for a boycott. It has since been revealed that he was carrying his lunch in the shopping bag.
