Kendrick Lamar set for first UK Number 1 album with To Pimp a Butterfly

Kendrick Lamar is set to score his first UK number one album.

The Compton rapper's third studio release To Pimp a Butterfly broke Spotify's global streaming record earlier this week following its surprise release.

Lamar is almost 3,000 copies ahead of his nearest competitor, Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler's Trackers.

Sam Smith's In the Lonely Hour falls to three, followed by Ed Sheeran's x , while Van Morrison's Duets - Re-working The Catalogue completes the Top 5.


Marina & the Diamonds' Froot enters the chart at six while Bjork is at ten with Vulnicura.


Meanwhile, Sam Smith and John Legend are set to continue their reign at the top of the singles chart with their Comic Relief duet 'Lay Me Down'.




Years & Years stay put at two with 'King' while Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney are at three with 'FourFiveSeconds'.


Hozier climbs from six to four with 'Take Me to Church' and Ellie Goulding's 'Love Me Like You Do' completes the Top 5.


Tough Love's 'So Freakin' Tight' are set to score this week's highest new entry, with the track currently at number ten.


MNEK is facing his first solo Top 40 single with 'The Rhythm' currently at 26.


Elsewhere, Muse's 'Psycho' is at number 39 while Pitbull and Ne-Yo enter at 28 with 'Time of Our Lives'.
