Melanie Griffith is lined up to co-star in a new ABC comedy pilot series.
Previously titled The Brainy Bunch, based on the book of the same name by Kip and Mona Lisa Harding, the comedy pilot follows Kip Mitchell and his wife, Mona Lisa, as they reach the conclusion that that they may have raised their children to be too smart.

Griffith will play Celeste, a former pageant queen and Mona Lisa's mother, who invites her daughter's family to live with her, Deadline reports.

The casting news marks Griffith's return to television following recent recurring roles on Fox comedy Raising Hope and CBS' Hawaii Five-0.
Most recently, Griffith made a special appearance on Saturday Night Live alongside ex-husband Don Johnson in the episode hosted by her daughter, Fifty Shades of Grey 's Dakota Johnson.
