The Android-powered device, described as a revolutionary television, games console and streaming supercomputer all-in-one, will be available in May for $199 (£129) with 16GB of memory.
Powered by a Tegra X1 processor and 3GB memory, it "delivers twice the performance of an Xbox 360 at one fifth the power".
The nVidia store will offer 50 games at launch, including The Talos Principle, Borderlands The Pre-Sequel, Telltale's Game of Thrones, Resident Evil 5. Portal, Half-Life 2, Metal Gear Rising: Revengence and Joe Danger.
Co-founder and CEO Jen-Sun Huang said the device aims to make games more accessible through its Grid streaming service, doing "for gaming what Netflix did for videos and what Spotify did for music".
Two subscription options will be available, including a premium service running games at 1080p and 60 frames per second for titles including Batman Arkham Knight, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Resident Evil Revelations 2.
As a Smart TV, the device will support 4K video, downloads from Google Play store with purchases that sync over across from other Android devices and voice search support.
It also comes with a remote powered by high data rate bidirectional Bluetooth.
The hardware itself is designed to stand up or lie flat, while its unique aluminum design means it will look different from every possible angle.
