Say it isn’t so!
“Grey’s Anatomy” fans who subscribe to Entertainment Weekly got way more than they bargained for when the magazine’s latest issue arrived a day earlier than scheduled.
Inside its pages was some earth-shattering news about one of the show’s major characters, Dr. Derek Shepherd (more commonly known as “McDreamy”).
When the dish on Patrick Dempsey’s character hit social media on Thursday (April 23), EW issued an apology to its readers for letting the cat out of the bag.
“We are surprised that an EW subscriber may have received their issue a day earlier than planned,” the magazine said in a statement. “We always try our best to bring readers exclusive news first. We would like to apologize to fans of the show that learned the news ahead of time.”
MAJOR SPOILER ALERT: Don’t read any further if you don’t want to know what happens on tonight’s episode of “Grey’s Anatomy.”
The issue features a photo of Dempsey with the headline, “The Doctor is… Out,” which suggests that McDreamy will either leave the show abruptly or be killed off.
Dempsey’s departure from the show would mean a major shakeup for the long-running ABC drama. McDreamy has been a central character since the very first episode in 2005.
Cue tears now… or wait until after the episode has aired. There’s still hope the news isn’t true. Maybe?
