Shah Rukh Khan: 'I hope 'Singham 2' does better than 'Chennai Express'

Shah Rukh Khan has said he hopes Rohit Shetty's Singham 2 surpasses the box office success of Chennai Express.

Ajay Devgn reprises his role as Bajirao in the film which is the sequel to the 2011 hit Singham, the first Indian film to cross the Rs 100 crores mark.

Speaking to IANS , Khan said: "I would pray that Inshallah [Rohit Shetty's] next Singham 2 does much more business than Chennai Express because he deserves it."


The 47-year-old actor worked with Shetty for the first time on Chennai Express, which has gone on to become the highest grossing Indian film of all time.


Khan credited Shetty for the film's success, saying: "Being a director is a very lonely job. So you don't just thank them, you just stand by them.


"For the film also, as an actor, and as a friend we all tried to stand by [Shetty]."
