When asked on Twitter whether it will be possible for a PS Vita owner to get invited to a party chat on the PS4, Sony's Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida replied, "Yes".
At gamescom 2013 last week, the firm confirmed its plans to permanently reduce the price of the PS Vita.
It also announced release dates for the PS4 and news of the next-gen console being released in 32 countries by the end of the year.
The PS Vita's price is now $199 in North America and €199 in Europe (£170).
When it launches in November, the PS4 will cost $399 in North America and €399 in Europe (£342) .
In May, it was revealed that all PS4 games will be playable on the PS Vita via Remote Play.
