It was announced that the actress, who plays Kirsty Branning, was among four faces being cut from the show, following the arrival of new boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins in September.
Wareing, who made her first appearance last Christmas, has confirmed that it wasn't her decision to leave the show.
She told TV Extra: "It wasn't my decision, it was theirs. A new producer came on board and he wanted to shake things up."
The star admitted that while she would have "happily stayed", she was relieved that her character was axed as she disagreed with some of her storylines.
She said: "I always wanted them to make that choice. I wasn't really happy with where the storylines were going, because I just thought it has become a bit one dimensional."
One storyline that the actress particularly struggled with was when Kirsty pretended to be pregnant to keep husband Max (Jake Wood) from leaving her.
She said: "I enjoyed a lot of it, but I didn't really believe what I was doing. In the beginning I did, but I didn't believe the fake pregnancy."
At the time, Wareing branded her character's behaviour "embarrassing".
In September, the actress told Digital Spy that she had struggled with fame since joining the soap, and hinted that she didn't plan to remain on EastEnders for very long.
She said: "I'd like to do other projects. It'd be nice to be in the show, come out, go back in there and come out - I don't know if they're going to allow that, but that'd be my ideal situation.
"It would be nice to do film work and dramas, something you can really get your teeth into."
