Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett and Michelle Williams were among the mourners at a private wake held in the Frank E Campbell Funeral Home on Manhattan's Upper East Side.

Josh Hamilton, Joaquin Phoenix, Diane Sawyer and Ellen Burstyn also attended, alongside director Bennett Miller who worked with Hoffman on Capote and Moneyball .
The wake followed a candlelight vigil of friends and fans who gathered in their hundreds outside the Labyrinth Theatre Company, where Hoffman was a member from 1995 and later served as artistic director for a period.
Actor Eric Bogosian spoke during the vigil, praising Hoffman for his courage and humility.

Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead on Sunday (February 2)
"I think it is important to note not only Phil's power as a great, great talent but as a person as well," he said.
Hoffman was found dead in his apartment on Sunday (February 2) of a suspected drug overdose.
A private funeral for the actor's relatives and close friends will be held later today.
