Johnny Depp will be honoured with a special award from the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild.

The actor has been chosen as the inaugural recipient of the Distinguished Artisan Award.

Depp's prize will be given out at a ceremony at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles on February 15.

The actor has been the recipient of many prestigious accolades throughout his career, including a Golden Globe and four MTV Movie Awards.

He made headlines last month for getting engaged to his girlfriend Amber Heard.

Depp was previously in a long-term romance with Vanessa Paradis for 14 years.
