Lifetime has picked up a new drama series titled Un-Real, which goes behind-the-scenes of a reality dating show.

Un-Real is based on Shapiro's short film Sequin Raze, which takes a look at the chaos surrounding the production of a fictitious dating competition show.

The network has ordered ten hour-long episodes of the series, penned by Buffy the Vampire Slayer writer Marti Noxon and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro.

Un-Real is based on Shapiro's short film Sequin Raze, which takes a look at the chaos surrounding the production of a fictitious dating competition show.
Shiri Appleby will play lead character Rachel, a young staffer on the show tasked with manipulating her relationships with and among the contestants to heighten drama for a dispassionate executive producer (Megyn Price).
Harry Potter actor Freddie Stroma also stars in the dark comedy, alongside Josh Kelly, Nathalie Kelley, Johanna Braddy and Breeda Wool.
Un-Real is the first Lifetime series to be wholly owned by A+E Studios .
A premiere date is yet to be announced.
