Did Ellie Goulding Just Get A 'Divergent' Tattoo?

Is Ellie Goulding the most dedicated " Instagram on Wednesday that featured soft make-up, some sweet braids... and what seems to be a brand-new Veronica Roth-inspired tattoo.

The design depicts three swooping black birds below her collarbone. It's the same tattoo that Tris gets to honor the three members of her family when she leaves them all behind to join the Dauntless faction. In Dauntless, the faction known for bravery, getting inked is yet another way to prove your fearlessness, and it's the turning point to Tris becoming the unabashed heroine of the "Divergent" trilogy. But is Ellie's the real deal? Or just a temporary homage to the character?

Regardless of the tattoo's realness, it's clear Ellie can relate to Tris. They're both strong, spirited women with serious athletic ability. (Sure, Tris can jump off a moving train but have you seen any of Ellie's Instagram videos lately?) Which is one of the many reasons "Divergent" director Neil Burger got Ellie on the movie soundtrack.

"We started working on the film with songs from Ellie Goulding's album Halcyon and soon found that the texture of her music and the tone of her voice matched perfectly with our film," Burger said in a statement in February. "In many ways Ellie has become the inner voice of our heroine Tris."

"Beating Heart," one of three Goulding songs featured on the soundtrack, was written especially for the film. "I basically got to go into the studio, and just be put in front of the microphone for a few hours and sing whatever I wanted to sing," Goulding told MTV News. "Not even words, noises and sounds, too."

The result is a track of mournful lyrics and Goulding's trademark breathy vabrado. "[Goulding's] lyrics almost merge with Tris' voice-over and her music lets the movie soar above the tragedy," Burger said. "The sadness is still there but so is the transcendence."
