Melvin Benn says he is "delighted" with this year's line-up

He told NME : "I think it will surprise a lot of people," he said. "As ever for us, the line-up's a mix of where popular and alternative music has been, where it is now and where it's going next, across a real spread of genres."

Arctic Monkeys and Blink-182 have already been announced as headliners, with the third and final headliner expected to be unveiled on Monday.

The festival is also set to announce up to 35 more acts who will take to the stage this year.

Benn continued: "There's unquestionably a rock tradition at Reading and Leeds but equally so there's unquestionably a dance tradition at the festival and plenty of other sorts of sounds and audiences.

"So we try to reflect that. It's a really strong lineup this year. We're absolutely delighted with it."

Warpaint, The 1975, SBTRKT, You Me At Six, The Courteeners, Jake Bugg and Disclosure have previously been announced to play Reading and Leeds this year.

Reading and Leeds 2014 will take place across the weekend of August 22-24.
