Nightcrawler debuts at number one in the US box office

Nightcrawler has debuted at number one in the US box office.

The thriller sees Jake Gyllenhaal play a freelance crime journalist who becomes increasingly involved with the law-breaking he reports on.




The film took $10.9m in its first weekend, beating last week's number one Ouija by just $9,000.

Fury stays at three with $9.1m, while Gone Girl is at four.

The Book of Life is at five with $8.3m and John Wick is down by four to six with $8m.

Bill Murray's St. Vincent is down one to seven having taken $7.75m, while Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day occupies the number eight spot.


The Judge is at nine with $3.4m and Dracula Untold rounds out the Top 10.

The US weekend box office Top 10 for November 2 (studio estimates, all figures in US dollars) is as follows:
