Taylor Swift claims number one UK album with 1989

Taylor Swift has claimed her second number one album with 1989 .

90,000 copies of her fifth studio album were sold in the past seven days, making it the fastest-selling LP by a female artist so far in 2014.

Elsewhere, Ed Sheeran is up one place to two with x and Sam Smith's In the Lonely Hour is at three.

Last week's number one I Forget Where We Were by Ben Howard is down to four, while George Ezra's Wanted on Voyage rounds out the Top 5.


Led Zeppelin's reissued 1971 album IV is in at number six.

Annie Lennox is new in at nine with Nostalgia, while Cambridge band Mallory Knox are at 16 with Asymmetry.

Black Veil Brides are at 17 with their self-titled album and Yusuf Islam's (formerly known as Cat Stevens) Tell 'Em I'm Gone is at 22.


Young Fathers experience a 4000% lift in sales following their Mercury Prize win, bringing Dead to number 35.
