Woody Harrelson has joined the cast of director John Hillcoat's upcoming thriller Triple Nine.
Written by Matt Cook, the film will focus on a group of corrupt cops who are blackmailed by the Russian mafia to pull off an extremely dangerous heist by manufacturing a 'triple nine' - the police code for 'officer down'.

The heist film will feature an ensemble cast including Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael B Jordan, Kate Winslet, Aaron Paul, Teresa Palmer, and Gal Gadot.

According to Deadline , Harrelson will play a Sergeant Detective in the film, with Casey Affleck playing his police officer nephew.
Triple Nine is slated for release next year, and begins filming this summer.
Harrelson was last seen in the critically acclaimed HBO drama True Detective opposite Matthew McConaughey.
