The story follows Justine, a woman who interrupts the meeting in a deserted warehouse between two Irishmen and the gang of arms dealers.
When shots are fired in the handover, a heart-stopping game of survival ensues.
Evans has been cast as one of the gang leaders.
Also starring in Free Fire is Armie Hammer, Olivia Wilde, Michael Smiley and Inception's Cillian Murphy.
Wheatley most recently directed the first two episodes of Doctor Who 's eighth series, while his adaptation of J.G. Ballard's High-Rise will be released next year.
