Happy New Year cast: 'We might never replicate this again'

The stars of Happy New Year have described the experience of making the film as unforgettable.

The film features an ensemble cast comprising Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan , Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah, who have been travelling around the world as part of the 'Slam! Tour' and promoting the film together.

Irani told Digital Spy: "When I first heard about Happy New Year ten years ago, I never knew that it would shape up like this with the top-most cast members, with Shah Rukh, Abhishek, Deepika.

"I'd worked with Abhishek before, I'd met Vivaan Shah once and I'd bumped into Sonu. Before you knew it you'd become a family. It could have gone any way. You need one rotten apple to spoil the lot. So if anyone of us was not with the party it wouldn't have worked.

"But we took care of our friendships and we shared this experience, on set, off set, on tour with all our families. Here we are after 150 shooting days. How many cities have we toured? You can see the unity.

"It's been hard, but we haven't even realised how hard we've been working, simply because of the fun we've had. Our greatest fear is that we don't know if we will ever be able to replicate this in another film."

Vivaan Shah - the youngest cast member, who stars in his second film after Saath Khoon Maaf - described working with the senior actors as "a masterclass in acting."

"I think not just the friendships that I've made, but working with these guys, seeing them work on the sets, has been a beautiful experience in itself. Besides that it's the time we spent together on and off the set," explained the 24-year-old.

Bachchan, who plays the 'baap of all taporis' Nandu in the film, revealed that the entire cast approached the project with a sense of fun.

"Everybody here is in the same boat and everybody said, 'OK we're going to have fun'," he noted.

"It's very difficult to create that kind of madness if you're not in a sense living it. It is predominantly a comic film. So what happens is that you have to create an atmosphere that is conducive to the required creativity.

"This film requires a certain pitch, a certain tone. And you need a certain camaraderie. If you're not going to be willing to jump in the mix and be one of the boys it's not going to happen."

After watching the final cut, Shah Rukh Khan expressed his gratitude to everyone who was part of the film

Described as a musical heist, the eagerly-anticipated movie is expected to create a new box office record.

Happy New Year will first premiere in Dubai on October 22, releasing in the UK a day later and in India on October 24.
