Leonard Nimoy has assured fans that he is feeling fine following being diagnosed with a lung disease.

"I quit smoking 30 yrs ago. Not soon enough. I have COPD. Grandpa says, quit now!! LLAP," Nimoy tweeted.

The Star Trek Into Darkness actor revealed on Twitter today (February 6) that he is battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

"I quit smoking 30 yrs ago. Not soon enough. I have COPD. Grandpa says, quit now!! LLAP," Nimoy tweeted.
Nimoy has since urged his Twitter followers who smoke to give up the habit before they face a similar fate.
"Smokers, please understand. If you quit after you're diagnosed with lung damage it's too late. Grandpa says learn my lesson. Quit now. LLAP," he tweeted.
The star also offered an update on his own health, adding: "I'm doing OK. Just can't walk distances. Love my life,family, friends and followers. LLAP"
Nimoy is best known for portraying Dr Spock in the original Star Trek series and movies.
