Matthew McConaughey reflects on playing True Detective's Rust Cohle

Prior to his Oscar win in March, McConaughey kicked off 2014 by playing the most iconic new TV character for years in True Detective 's Rust Cohle.

Several months on we're still missing the HBO drama, which starred McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as a pair of Louisiana detectives whose investigation of a ritualistic killing spree spans two decades.

When Digital Spy sat down with McConaughey to discuss Interstellar this week, we took the chance to ask him about his memories of playing nihilistic loner Rust. See what he had to say in the video above.

The second season of True Detective is currently being cast, with Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch confirmed for major roles.
